ABSTRACT The Government of Canada's Oceans Protection Plan (OPP) is a comprehensive, transformative $1.5 billion strategy to build world-leading marine safety system protect ecosystems, while enabling inclusive economic growth. A key component the OPP Multi-Partner Research Initiative (MPRI), led by Fisheries and Canada (DFO) in collaboration with other federal agencies (Environment Climate Change Canada, Canadian Coast Guard, Natural Resources Transport Canada), that aims advance oil spill research fostering national/international network brings together scientific experts field. core studies under this program are focused on provision knowledge support development, validation regulatory approval Alternative Response Measures (ARMs) include: treating agents, situ burning, translocation decanting/oily waste disposal. Additional includes “cross-cutting” issues, such as natural attenuation bioremediation oil, assessment toxic impacts associated spills application countermeasures, detection mapping autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). deliverables from will provide essential information Net Environmental Benefit Analysis (NEBA) for decision making select optimal response option(s) environment its living resources. With an emphasis supporting development next generation scientists field through engagement private sector (i.e., organizations industry partners) international (e.g., USA, Norway, France, Australia, China) government agencies, MPRI anticipated have profound influence community emergency within abroad.

Using the TODIM-FSE method as a decision-making support methodology for oil spill response
This paper introduces a multi-criteria method for solving classification problems, called TODIM-FSE. This name was chosen because its structure merges characteristics from two different methods: TODIM and FSE. In order to demonstrate TODIM-FSE, a model was constructed aimed at helping potential users to decide upon suitable contingency plans for oil spill situations. The model is envisaged as e...

متن کاملUsing Research to Support Management Decision Making in Schools
The gap between the researcher’s world and the practitioner’s world has long been recognised: research literature is generally not part of a practitioner’s library (Huberman, 1990). One of the effects of this is that actions by decision-makers and practitioners are unlikely to be informed by research, and dissemination of research information and knowledge is problematic (Hillage et al., 1998)....
